“Plantation” with Tiny Heart Charm - 1948 Spoon Bracelet | Vintage Silverware | Oneida | Up-Cycled Antique Silverware Spoon Bracelet
Bracelet created by hand from two vintage silver plated spoons known as “Lovely Lady” with a beautiful antique silver metal connector charm featuring a turquoise rhinestone and round shapes with beaded edges.
Lovely Lady was introduced in 1937 by Holmes & Edwards and was discontinued in 1959. This pre-war pattern flows from flowers at the top to the pierced handle making an interesting and still popular look. You are sure to get compliments with this pattern.
Holmes & Edwards was organized in Bridgeport CT in 1882 and taken over by International Silver in 1898. That part of Connecticut and Southern New England housed some of the best manufacturers and artisans of silver in the country in the early twentieth century.
The clasps are super strong magnets, attached by stainless steel jump rings. To take the bracelet off, slide the magnets apart in opposite directions rather than pulling away from each other, or slide a fingernail between the magnets to disengage.
Clean, polish, cut, smooth, bend, bend, cuss, bend, sweat, bend, hammer, tumble, patina, buff. Sound easy? It’s painstakingly difficult but the end result … beautiful and unique! You can expect to see signs of its age and prior use but that just adds to it's uniqueness!
If you have your eye on this or any other piece, snatch 'em up. In some instances I have a few of the same pattern. In other cases, they are a one of a kind! Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good!
I hope you can appreciate the unique beauty and hard work that goes into these.
